Product Description

Round bar products are known as rods, rounds, drill rods, or shafts. The bronze round bar belongs to the non-ferrous metal family and is manufactured using CA104, NES833, and PB102 grade of bronze metal.

CA104 Grade The CA 104 grade is an Aluminium Bronze alloy with high strength, excellent wear resistance, and great anti-corrosive properties. This grade of bronze round bar is most popular due to the enhanced properties of the alloy metal. This metal grade works well in marine condition due to its ability to resist saltwater corrosion and anti-oxidation property.

NES833 Grade The NES833 grade is a Nickel Aluminium Bronze alloy metal. This bronze grade round bars have high strength, corrosion resistance, hardness, and excellent wear resistance. The general uses of these bars are in defence sectors, ship building, heat exchanger, marine projects, and pressure vessels.

PB102 Grade The PB102 grade is a Phosphor bronze alloy which constitutes mainly of copper. With its high fatigue strength, good mechanical properties, and ductility, this metal is used in manufacture of gears, bolts, nuts, springs, marine applications, chemical, and aircraft applications. The bronze rounds are available at SteelScout in Aluminium bronze and Phosphor bronze finishes. We can also provide value added services such as grinding, drilling, saw cutting, and more. About Bronze

Bronze is one of the oldest metals dating back to the 4th Millennium BC. Manufacturing of the bronze involves mixing copper with 10% tin providing it with far greater resistance to wearing than plain copper metal. The standard bronze metal consists of 88% copper and 12% tin. The bronze metal is copper in colour with a melting point of 950 deg Celsius to 1050 deg Celsius. Bronze is highly ductile, malleable, and a good conductor of heat and electricity. Being an alloy metal, bronze is harder than copper or iron and has low friction property. Bronze metal when in contact with air forms a thin copper oxide layer on its surface preventing corrosion in normal atmospheric conditions. The metal is known to react chemically to sulphur compounds, other pollutants, chlorine compounds, and strong acids leading to corrosion of bronze.

Bronze has undergone various changes in its metal composition over the years to adapt to the different needs of strength, anti-corrosive, and weathering and is classified as statuary bronze, architectural bronze, and commercial bronze. Statuary bronze can be called closest to true bronze with 97% copper, 2% tin, and 1% zinc composition. Architectural bronze is made from 57% copper, 40% zinc, and 3% lead. Commercial bronze is composed of 90% copper, and 10% zinc.

The uses of the bronze metal varies as per the metal composition. Bronze metal is generally used in outdoor sculptures due to its natural property of creating a patina layer when exposed to atmospheric conditions, manufacturing machine parts such as gears due to its minimal friction property, bells due to its resonance property, ship- propellers and submerged bearings due to its strength and anti-corrosive nature to salt water, door and window frames, hardware, hinges, nuts and bolts, clips, handles, pumps, decorative art work, and many more.
